this is originally a problem with the setup when you install full and drop a
nightly on top of it. If you try to run the full binary (for instance 1.2.1)
after a nightly install, it will most crash/behave badly.

Fixing this at setup level would be too much trouble. The full setup should be
versioned as '1.2' or '1.3', and use 1.3.1 1.3.2 etc. for the nightlies. Store a
nightly.version file in the installation that hold the valid nightly version
number, and deny run cleanly if no match.

(Of course this will work next time we release a new full setup)
