At this point it's probably better if you compile GtkRadiant yourself and debug
it. The JPEG loading code is linked into image.so, and doesn't rely on dynamic
dependencies.

I see a bunch of extra libraries in your ldd, which are likely to cause the
problem. libgdkxft.so has a history of fucking up things, even on Gtk agnostic
software (http://zerowing.idsoftware.com/linux/wolf/#gdkxft for instance).
