ok.

loadlastmap works for a bit then quits.
perhaps the value for loadlastmap is being reset to 0, even though this is not 
reflected in preferences (the cutesey little push button still says =1, or it's 
toggled rather.

workaround is unclick the button in preferences then reclick it.

you can see from the attachment that it knew what the last map really was, from 
the recent file list, but it just wasn't writing it to lastmap.
