Been able to reproduce on win32. Doesn't happen in floating view (I guess the 
console widget doesn't get the key events in this case). But it happens in 
regular views. This same problem may be at the origin of a variety of other 
things, such as the freelook mode being jumpy at times and keeping moving after 
you release the arrows.

Commiting and checking on linux for side effects
