adds a wrapper to malloc() to exit gracefully on memory allocation failure.
Also alters two questionable memcpys of fixed-size winding_t... which 
apparently fixes an occasional crash bug in q3map during passage vis and vlight.

Note: this patch should also work on the q3map in 1.1.1
