I ain't fucking confused :)

grid unit is what I call "geometric space"
the surface inspector shows increments in "texture space"

with the default Q3 texture scale (i.e. geometric/texture space ratio) means
that 1 geometric space unit is 2 texels

the grid size is expressed in "geometric space", the increments are in texel

which is just another way to say the same thing
