Make sure that you are running the binary from the same directory as the
game data (root_fs2.vp, sparky_fs2.vp, etc.). If you are using the
Underdog version then I highly suggest that you find the original game
to purchase somewhere if you can find it. If you can't find it, or just
don't want to pay, then check out this thread on the HLP General
Freespace forum:
http://dynamic4.gamespy.com/~freespace/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=16047
It has instructions for downloading the original game data archives.

I'm not very familiar with Debian (if that is what you're using) so
someone else might have a better solution for you but make sure that
your MesaGL packages are up to date and that you install the development
packages as well. You can also try making sure that your libGL links
are correct (/usr/lib/libGL.so should be a symlink to libGL.so.1.2 if
installed). If that doesn't work then please include your distribution
and version as well as what video card you have.
If you're still having problems or that doesn't work then please let me
know.
