Hi ronny,

I'm running 2 game servers on a 32bit Etch with a manually compiled
2.6.25 kernel (with 1000Hz timer, and optimized for Core2 ;) ), one is
stock, other is modded (war server, with PAM4 mod). No problem with any
of them. Like it has been proposed, maybe the hard drive is going to die
with your data, so if you host your own server, give a try with another one.

Also check if you have some automated tasks that run scripts to backup
your logfiles (I had a problem with a bad-written script, the binary was
emptied every day).

Having the process running without pingable server is kind of normal
with the CoD series (as far as you don't have a map loaded, the server
does not appear). Have you tried running the server on foreground (with
no escape characters like the '&' or 'with start-stop-daemon' or
'screen' methods) and try entering commands directly to load a map ?
