[cod] COD2 development

The high CPU and memory load must only be a prob on FreeBSD.  I am 
running on Fedora Core 3 and it barely makes a dent on my server.  The 
server is an IBM Netfinity 4000 with 2xPIII 500s and a gig of memory.
