Please have a look at the acronym. Wine is not an emulator. It reimplements 
parts of the Windows API on Linux. Lending to maybe less stuff running in the 
background or better memory management or whatever it might theoreticly be 
possible to get a better performance under Linux then under Windows.

If you have drasticly worse performance under Linux I would probably have a 
look at the OpenGL driver (glxinfo |grep vendor) and see if it might be using 
software rendering.
