Hey,

(From a GSP perspective now). In my opinion your pricing is FAR too low. If you really went all the way with instant multi-gaming and location switching (please don't - it's the main attraction to my company and we'd be penniless if everyone had it lol :-D), you should be charging at least £5 (humm about $8) / month per game server. Also, reading through, don't bother with scheduling IMO.. I spent ages doing it and no-one has used it lol. To us, It's only useful for the backend to our bookable servers.

Do you guys run a GSP? If so, in my opinion, you'd do far better for yourself keeping it all private, within your company. I have considered opening up my panel (http://cp.fragzz.com/fragzzPanel u: trial p: chicken), but I decided that I'd do far better using it as a unique selling point for my company, and then if the company does close in the future, I can sell on the code.

Anyway - if you do decide to go for it, make it based on Linux, and charge it much higher in my opinion :-).

  Subject: [cod] Server Hosting

  Hello Guys.

I have been a lurker of this list for a while. A friend of mine and I were looking at writing an application where you can manage all games (COD etc) through a custom control panel. I recently saw Iguana Active Server was released and wondered if you all were running this management tool. My tool was planned to have some similar features. Frankly, I want to get a feel for what gamers want in a control panel. I need to decide if we are going to proceed or just start using Iquana.

Our system (we were thinking about calling it Gameshed) is planned to have some amazing features including multiple game support, advanced and easy config modes, database storable configs for easy use, scheduling of server config changes, monitoring, and reseller capabilities. We have been planning this puppy for about a year.

1.. What types of "cool" things would you all like to see in a game server control panel?
2.. Would you all like to have an affiliate program where if you refer game server sales you could pay for your own server each month?
3.. Would you like split billing so multiple clans could pay for one server?
4.. How about Scheduling configs to change on a calendar so you can bounce your server for practices or matches?
5.. Buy one server and choose which game it is on the fly?
6.. Change which datacenter your server starts in so at certain times your Europe based clans can have the server closer but when they are in bed you spawn the server in the US?

Think of some cool features you would like to see.

Let me know if you all have used Iguana?

Do you think a control panel priced at $2.50/game server / month is a good price?

  Thanks for your input.
