[bf1942] windows vs linux

Back in the day, a friend and I wanted to host CS
Servers. Yes, I know, but c'mon, everyone was hooked
At one point!
Anyways, we knew linux was just a more stable environment
For 24/7 servers, and it was free! Lol... So we took the time
To learn some easy commands and it was up. If we had already
Known the very basic commands of linux, it would have been (and
Of course is now) a very simple process... I've even setup scripts
To turn all the games on and off, stuff like that... Right now I have
2 Desert Combat servers (running on the latest bf1942_linux build)
A True Combat server, Medal of Honor server and 4 Counter Strike servers
And the machine isn't even budging...
Linux can be very simple really, it's just very different.
I'd recommend taking the time to learn some easy steps.
The shell rawks, I'm sure other penguin fans out there will agree ;c)
I'd say Mandrake is a very good version of Linux to learn on.
I started on it and still swear by it today.
One disadvantage I will say though, is that the development of
games for linux has usually been behind the mark vs. the windows
release dates :c( I hope more companies start meeting the release
dates of both builds at the same time ;c)
