So much lag in the world! : )

 My server:
AMD XP 1600+
256Mb DDR 233
 My Os: Red Hat 8.0
 
using the latest build of server and patch. 
With 20 clients, works fine. but if 20+ clients,
connection problem in all client machines.
In windows xp, using a non dedicated server, i can
host 28 clients without lag!!!
 The performance of linux server is much inferior of a
linux non dedicated server. Why????
