  I am pleased to announce the first (that I am aware of, anyhow) functional port of Volition's Freespace 2 to GNU/Linux.

  Thanks to the efforts of Steven Fuller, Dan Olson and Charles Mason, the game is playable on Unix. This includes an OpenGL renderer, 3D audio through OpenAL, and network play. You can use the demo data files (run "unzip" on the .EXE file), or you can install the full game from CD via Wine or a Windows partition.

  There is more to be done. If you are interested in playing or hacking on the source, check this project out.
