Planned downtime, hard drive upgrade... (posted 2011-04-14 15:15:05 by icculus):

icculus.org will be down for up to 60 minutes tomorrow, Friday, April 15th, for hardware upgrades, starting around 18:00 GMT.
We're replacing the two 120 gigabyte drives that have been running smoothly (albeit rather full) for seven years now. They will be replaced with two 500 gigabyte drives.
This is just to give us some disk space relief in the short term. There's an entire new rackmount sitting on my office desk, waiting to replace the whole server, but it'll probably be a few months until there's time to properly configure and make a lateral move over to Ubuntu from our current pile of duct tape that at one time resembled a Gentoo install. In the mean time, the drives should keep things moving nicely.
If things go smoothly, I'll take the server down, rsync any last-minute changes to the new drives, swap the hardware and be good to go. No mail will be lost during the downtime.
