  PhysicsFS has closed its 1.1 development branch and released 2.0.0. This release brings several requested features, many fixes, and a much more carefully-polished code.

  A quick rundown of new features:

  • CMake build system.
  • Unicode support.
  • lzma (7zip) archive support.
  • The ability to "mount" archives deeper than the root of the virtual filesystem.
  • Custom allocators.
  • Better thread safety.
  • Better state queries.
  • Callbacks for enumerations.
  • Symbolic links on Windows Vista.
  • Better Cygwin, mingw32, and MSYS support.
  • Support for the Haiku platform.
  • Better Mac OS X support.
  • No more Mac OS Classic support.
  • Innotek GCC support on OS/2.
  • -fvisibility=hidden on gcc4.
  • A wxWidgets test program.
  • Lots of fixes and internal improvements.

  There is also a 1.0.2 release today. This collects a handful of fixes that accumulated after 1.0.1's release.

  This is the end of both the 1.0 and 1.1 branches. Developers and distro maintainers are encouraged to move to 2.0.0, which remains backwards-compatible with 1.0.
