04:39 < zakk> I don't buy milk
04:39 < vogon> that explains why you're 7'8" and 37 pounds.

02:57 < icculus> Holy shit, I'm getting to the end of zakk's wishlist
going, "damn, this is a LONG list", and there's SEVEN MORE PAGES after
that.

02:58 < vogon> <zakk> wishlist item #496: more wishlist space

Buried under snow here:

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Woohoo, I'm an insured motorist
----------------------------------------------------------------------
8 hours later... and the monitor has gone into standby mode.
Best. station. ever.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Amusingly enough, one of the local TV stations hooked up to my cable
network BSOD'd from a lack of disk space:
http://www.timedoctor.org/~zakk/bsod.png

This is while they're playing Kenny G in the background.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
http://www.thinkgeek.com/tshirts/gaming/5cbd/
Surprisngly awesome t-shirt.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So, ThinkGeek has a watch that detects radiation:
http://www.thinkgeek.com/gadgets/watches/5cef/

"Blah blah blah..."
"...This watch could be very useful for the following people:"
And then they list:
"Tourists travelling to risk areas"
I mean, really, where the heck are you going?
Iraq?
Chernobyl?
And then:
"Professionals of international organisations travelling to risk areas"
So what, when you're in the UN you have to provide your own geiger
counter?

Really, I just use my biological radiation detection device.
It's quite simple really, you just count your fingers, if you count
more than 11, it's too dangerous and you should depart for less
radiation soaked pastures post-haste.

See, I'm not the only one that thinks Mutant Storm is great :)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Comcast seems to be dropping my cable modem whenever they detect non
http traffic. It's brilliant.
I also got my gf4 outputting to the TV on a seperate X server.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I am extremely disturbed by the fact that Arby's has "Horsey Sauce"
in the condiments dispenser. The SPCA must be made aware.

http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=32996&highlight=violation
For anyone who has the same problem updating gentoo that I did.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
R.Nev pointed out that I should be happy to have my box working at
all again, he's got a good point, I'm happy to even be this far.
A month or two ago when the motherboard broke, I nearly broke my 19
inch samsung monitor in frustration.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok now I'm on a drive with a couple weeks less work.
Hopefully this one will work better because the other drive couldn't
even run any of the gentoo tools (emerge, etc) since the file system
had apparently gotten too corrupt from all the random reboots :|
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yep, the ide was hooked up wrong to the CDRW msphil sent me.
Now it's in gentoo and fscking...
Ahh, bad/duplicate blocks, probably from rebooting at random times.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok, that motherboard works.
Ok, now the keyboard isn't working on my main box which has basically
the same mobo.
I probably just need to move shit around.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Woohoo!
Abit got my motherboard back to me finally.
Looks like the same one but without several layers of dust.
I hope it works :)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
LWCE is done, I'm tired.
Things:
1. The audio interview with me at:
ftp://ftp.extremetech.com/pub/extremetech/OS/Linux/Recording13.wav
was recorded at some shitty quality, I don't sound like that
(or at least I hope I don't)
2. I was exhausted during that interview and had no idea it would
be posted verbatim on the site.
3. I didn't port shit to Linux, besides OES, which I've barely worked
on lately, and a little work on black shades.
4. My name is not Zachary Taylor. I was not a president

Also, much thanks to:

That beta tester "asterisk" of pyddr who I should've gotten a new pass
John Hall
Daniel Vogel
Everyone who visited the booth and actually went to i.o instead of
just wasting our business cards.

No doubt there are more people, e-mail me if you know something I
can't remember.

I think we had the most popular non-swag booth at LWCE this year.

Fun stuff:
I had Sushi, twice, never had that before, I suggest you stay away
from octopus, but everything else was nice.
Octopus tastes OK, but it is so weirdly squishy going down, you
really have to chew it a lot.

PyDDR is cool, despite the inherent oddity of the game.
Still not any good at it, however.

Do not walk in New York City at night during winter unless you have
some sort of bottled, active, magma

Do not walk in New York City unless your shoes are prepared for it.
Waking up to bloody feet every day Isn't Good.

Do not attempt to Drive Anywhere in New York City unless you know
How The Hell to Get There.
Some of the highways were designed by Escher.

There's this thing called the "Barrier Mover".
It has two wheels in the back and goes along the median barrier
like a zipper.

I'm most happy about this:

"Icculus was the darling of LinuxWorld. Their booth drew more traffic
per square foot than any other display."
----------------------------------------------------------------------
you must all buy mutant storm, a dual shock 2, and the ps2 -> usb
thinger from radio shack
----------------------------------------------------------------------
17:43 <@Briareos> oh man
17:43 <@Briareos> i can barely stay awake
17:44 <@Briareos> coke isn't helping
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Radio Shack rules, they have PSX-> USB controller adapters for $10.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sure it's stubbed on Linux, but I need the functionality there for
other platforms.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What, you can load oggs in openal but not unload them?
