02/02/04:

No, Chunky, it really is Katie with the Krilo addiction. She's on
level 35 or so. Me, I'm lame. I can't get past level 3. (No, really!)

For everyone else, the fixes to Krilo on a modern distro (say,
Mandrake 8.1) are:
  (1) Install Krilo
  (2) Install the patch
  (3) Edit /usr/bin/krilo to put krilo's path FIRST (it doesn't like
SDL releases from later in the SDL 1.1 cycle, use the one they provided)
  (4) Then, don't use krilo2.prog, edit it to launch krilo.prog

See, krilo2.prog won't take passwords, it just crashes.

Also, if you launched it prior to installing the patch, remove the files
in ~/.krilo, or you won't see all the levels (and will start on the wrong
first level).

Media server isn't up, the 120G drive I bought doesn't work in my old
machine. I'm going to try it in another machine tonight.

Made a major breakthrough in my side project -- the test app links. Now
to get the rest of it built...

Still waiting on the RTCW/Theocracy/Creatures3 shipment, which is a
bit surprising. Also waiting on the DSL modem, which isn't... I still
have a couple days for it to arrive, though :-)

02/01/30:

Whoa. No update for a while!

Katie's been home for more than a week, and she's been moving forward
on both the "whipping our apartment into shape" and freelance design
business fronts. Pretty amazing.

Loki's going away :-( At least I managed to buy the last two titles
I was missing (Fakk2 and Postal) before they went away. Full collection,
here :-) Also picked up Krilo, which is (IMO) quite under-rated.

And I've been wrestling with an interesting code base, and turned a
*MAJOR* corner last night. Thanks, Joe! If things go well, I can hook
SDL up to it this week-end, and we'll see where we stand.

Traded in the 512M DIMM for a replacement, still flaky. It was cheap,
I may give up for now and just stick with two 256M DIMMs from another
source.

Oh, and DSL is coming. This doesn't suck...

02/01/15:

Computer woes: bought a new motherboard, CPU, memory, and hard disk,
and assembled it. After trying to get Mandrake 8.1 to come up correctly,
and failing miserably, started diagnostics. It looked like the drive was
bad (sigh), but after much gnashing of teeth and component swapping,
turns out that the brand-new 512M DIMM was flaky. How stupid is that...

Katie turned in her notice at Lanier. This is interesting mostly
because she's wanted to do so for months and months, and it was not
feasible until very recently. We are both excited at this, as it means
she is entering the dynamic (read: unstable) world of the Freelance
Graphics Artist. I'm sure it will work out fine.

Started moving forward on another project. It is Interesting Stuff(tm).
