Switchblade is a series of video encoding tools used for the RoQ video format, which appears in many games based on the Quake 3 and Doom 3 engines. The Switchblade 3 encoder was integrated into the popular FFMPEG video transcoder along with some third-party improvements.
Switchblade 4
Switchblade 4 incorporates the improvements made during the FFMPEG port into the original package. It separates the codebook stage from the main encode stage, allowing quality to be fine-tuned without going through the lengthy codebook generation stage again. It can also mix in audio from the source AVI.
