Codehost's Job Submission tool (JST) is a comprehensive tool designed for testing the capabilities of both the output device and the underlying print system, and submitting a variety of jobs for batch printing in a non-test environment. Previously, testing whether a printer would correctly staple every corner on print jobs, while duplexing at the same time, was a time-consuming process. A tester would print a job by hand each of four times - once for each corner, selecting additional options along the way. Using JST, that same task is a three-click process, cutting testing time by many orders of magnitude. Using JST, a tester can test every option a Segment 4-5 printer has to offer in one morning, a task that used to take two weeks. Specific features of JST: Cover pages - For every job it prints, JST prepends a cover page describing exactly what that job is and what how it was meant to output. File types - JST supports an unprecedented variety of file types. It can print all the jobs you'd normally expect, with extra features such as printing the dynamic output of other programs and automatically printing folder contents as well as individual files. File groups - For your testing convenience, JST can print groups of files at a time. You may, for example, have a group that contains every image format supported by the print system. You can easily print the entire group at once with just one mouse click, verifying support of all known image formats. Print system testing - JST understands all of the features commonly available in underlying print systems, and can print jobs examining those options in addition to device-specific ones. Job Logging - In addition to printing cover pages for every job, JST maintains a log of all jobs that it prints in the current session, making them available for repeat testing with one click, and making it easy to copy the log into another application such as your testing matrix Branding - Using the same branding mechanism as it's parent product Codehost's BrightQ, JST supports user-interface branding that reflects the vendor for the device currently in use. In addition, JST stores your preferences on a per-user basis, so you'll only ever need to choose your test file groups once For batch printing, JST can remove all testing-related features from the user interface and provide an efficient mechanism for submitting normal jobs. In development is an automatic component that can print any number of jobs at any specific times that you wish for. Walkthrough of some JST features: 1) Print all known image formats a) Open JST b) Go to Options->Files c) Click on "Add Group", insert the text "Images", and click "OK" d) Click on "Add File(s)", select all your test images, and click "OK" e) Click "Done" f) Now you may select any printer currently configured on your system, and click "Print Now" to print out all images 2) Testing stapling a) Open JST b) Set up a group as above, if you wish. File groups are stored between runs, so you'll not normally need to set anything up here if you've done it before. c) Select the printer for which you wish to test the stapling features d) Scroll down in the options window to the stapling option, and click the "Test" button next to it. e) Select all of the staple positions you'd like to test, and hit "OK". 3) Repeating jobs a) If the Log Window isn't already open after printing some jobs, go to Options->Show Log b) Click on each of the jobs that you'd like to repeat, and click "Run Selected Jobs" c) JST will now repeat each of those jobs exactly as it was before d) For your testing reference, you can click "Copy" and paste the exact information into your testing matrix
