<p>I dunno if they got around to it, but Quake Live was Windows-only when first released.</p>
<p>Also, I love id Software in principle - being one of the few major Tux-friendly studios, I've bought many of their games (including the Steam pack) - but UT games offer more of what I want. Multiple fire modes on all weapons, dodging, etc. I was raised on original Doom and Quake, but fell in love with UT instantly and played it pretty solidly from 1999-2005ish, and still play it every once in a while to this day (I own the Anthology, but prefer old school UT to 2k4). I just wish Epic didn't shun their Linux fanbase (even in partnering with hostile third parties).</p>
<p>TL;DR: id is great on principle, but UT is (highly subjectively) the better game.</p>
