On the contrary, buyers are very stupid.

Until the "treatment" we receive as Linux users from Epic gets worse than the general norm (lets face it, they're working on a linux version which is way more than can be said for most game developers) then we're all going to bitch and moan until the linux client is released then we'll lap it all up like the good eager linux gamers that we are.

They could sell a boxed version online, nobody is asking them to put a
linux/mac version on shopping centres... I don't know if people are willing
to pay for a useless windows version, but i won't, you can be sure
about that.. Add to this that people are starting to be bored of waiting..
There are lot's of games out there, and it has not been very intelligent to leave
linux/mac server and clients out of the boxed version, nor leaving legal
issues unresolved... If they only have one programmer working at this it
won't be a surprise if this game is a fiasco.. Buyers are not stupid.
Linux servers should be up and running before the game is even released!

They won't do that, because that's just too expensive. I could imagine a
cheaper version in a cheap jewel case in about a year or so, that's
going to include the linux-installer. But I'd like the client to be out
much sooner to download first. ;)

I'm pretty happy that I won't have to buy a special linux-version of the
game, like OS X-users will have to. With the current bandwidth (even if
Germany is still kind of slow, compared to other countries) it shouldn't
be a problem to download a few megabytes.

Just keep your work up, Ryan. We're counting on you. ;o)

Greetings.

Jimmy Forrester-Fellowes wrote:
> On Dec 4, 2007 11:38 PM, tom61 61 <
