[ut3] Greetings---is anyone still here?

Agreed.  And for all who might be interested, I tweeted Ryan about this the other day:

me:  "the topic of whatever happened to UT3 was semi-revived on the mailing list... is that still subject-non-gratis?"

@icculus:  "Let me put it this way:  I don't read the mailing list anymore."

Whoever said id software was the only big studio friend to Linux gaming should note that with Rage and id tech 5, they pulled the exact move Epic did with UT3/UE3 and abandoned a previously promised linux client port.  http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=MTA5MzQ

Also, considering that marketing talk from Epic has recently started pushing Unreal Engine 4, I'd say that the better (still vain) hope from them is to see Linux support there, rather than worrying about UT3 any longer.  The game itself is dead online anyway, so you'd just be playing with bots and a few holdouts from my clan anyway....  ;)

In the meantime, buy the Humble Indie Bundles for Ryan's awesome Linux ports and keep him in the mix!  That's where the action is in modern Linux gaming, so we ought to support it!

Yeah, still around here too.  Not sure why, just like remembering how exciting it was going to be to have UT3 available.

>Linux coming to Steam is official Gabe himself has confirmed Valve is working on it and the first game being ported will be Left 4 Dead. And Phoronix are not trolls. They may just jump the gun on occasion. But in the end they were right. Also UT3 is probably never coming to Linux.
