Yeah, that was because of Microsoft's company policy to completely ignore
LINUX (true story).
Gears didn't make it either, it was planned after Unreal Tournament, also by
Ryan.
What Ryan probably did, was use a technology for porting that he couldn't
legally use.
I don't know, maybe there's some Microsoft licensed technology in the
engine...
