[ut3] Linux Client

Ryan: Could you please ban this "Cube" person? Nothing but spam from him.
Let us hope this action does not get held up in legal and you spend the
next 2 years optimizing the mail server administration scripts. I am a fan,
but if anything, your lack of any appearance on this mailing list is
alienating my love of gaming. I've learned C, Perl, Ruby, PHP, Lua, a fair
bit of Java, some C++, and a little Python in the time it was released for
Windows to this day. I stay on this board only because, like Matt F said,
it would be interesting to find out what asshole with a secret agenda spent
a year keeping this game from at least 10,000 eager players. During that
time, I also moved to playing games like Team Fortress 2, Half Life 2, and
CounterStrike--all of which will probably have a Linux port before I die of
old age. If you truly cared you'd at least give us something to know we're
not left out in the cold. Remember, you get to keep doing what you do,
because we love games. If you don't provide, we A) Look for Linux games
elsewhere, which hurts Epic. or B) Give up gaming forever and spend a year
writing articles about how the gaming industry has gone down the tubes with
it's exclusive catering to Windows and how most games today barely hold
their replay value like games from 10 years ago. (Which also hurts Epic.)
Because I still *somewhat* love this game, I have been forced to dual-boot
Windows to enjoy it's "prettyness", though it's astonishing how the minimum
specs for Windows continue to climb with each unsatisfying version. Pretty
soon we won't even be able to get work done the computer, we'll just be paid
to sit down and diddle the stupid Windows Aero effects. We like Linux
because it does what we want without some stupid Windows Media Center
services hogging as much as 50MB of RAM like 20 other hidden services. We
all looked forward to this game because of how it would lighten our moods
and ease the stress of work, or just to have fun with our friends on a
Friday night with a projector screen. ut2004 did that for us over all this
time, why is ut3 different? It's done nothing by drive what business you
helped Epic gain from that game, away.
Plain and simple, it hurts the industry more than it hurts the players. It
would be nice to know the industry is listening.

PS: Keith Z-G: I heard Rage was over a terabyte in size, and the video looks
amazing. The id Tech engines are never really known for *spectacular*
graphics like the Unreal Engine, but it's definitely got my vote over this
vaporware. The only thing that makes me nervous is that on the Wikipedia
article, one of the developers or managers (or someone in charge), said that
Linux would not be a release platform. I just hope it won't follow in the
footsteps of this port. If you've heard different, I would like to know
what info you've come across. :>

Regards
