[ut3] Official release date

Not all the blame can be put on us Linux consumers (note that I didn't buy the game - I won it in a contest). Epic Games originally stated that a Linux installer would be a 0-day release. Then, when it was nearing November (2007, of course), it got pushed back to "a few weeks" after the Windows release. Linux users rightfully expected to be able to play the game on or near release day at that time.

Now, of course, it's been almost a year and a half since Windows version release, and the bloody consoles are getting their ports before we are. And this, many MONTHS after the mac/linux ports were ready for release!

Perhaps Linux users should have waited until the binary actually was released. But they can't be blamed for pre-ordering a game they were told would be ready in Nov. Perhaps if they hadn't, and the binary was released when indicated, they wouldn't even have been able to buy the (sold out) game anywhere anyway.

I really don't see how you can correlate these two things. They didn't
say they were porting the Xbox 360 version of the game to Linux, did
they? Did I miss that somewhere?

And for those of you whining about how you bought the game and haven't
played it because there is no Linux client, sorry but maybe you should
have waited to buy it until there actually was the only thing you were
buying it for? That seems like the practical thing to do in any
situation. Did you buy Prey the day it came out hoping that Ryan Gordon
would release a Linux binary for it, too? If you want to be a thrifty
consumer, then be thrifty. And if you aren't thrifty, don't whine that
you made a mistake and try to blame it on Epic or anyone else. You don't
have anyone to blame but yourselves.

Personally, I'm sure a Linux binary will eventually come out for UT3 and
when it does I will probably use it. But, I'm a gamer, and so my options
of eliminating Windows are pretty much zero.
