[ut3] Beta Patch 1.3

Filewriter and the net code ppl have been complaining about.  As in
using the irc reported(r3porter).  I am not sure if my references are
correct.

I would like to see a Linux patch as well and hope that the FileWriter 
class problem will be fixed.
