I am waiting too. I also have a small group of friends (5) who won't
buy the game until them give them a "green light". I would recommend
that you wait it out as well. Everyone is better off if video
producers see that a lot of money is lost if they do not port games to
Linux.

If your hands are really itching to play something good, get Quake
Wars. I personally have been very productive while waiting: learned
two programming languages  and went through a round of grueling
interviews that landed me a nice job.
