Why not the 64 bit version?

On 31 May 2011 22:42, kristjan <kristjan.ugrin@gmail.com> wrote:

Opensuse 11.4 - x64

I've tried with 2 kernel flavors - one is the default with tickrate 250,
the other one is optimised for desktop and uses tickrate 1000

same effect.

Medium is hdd, ext4 native.
I've also opened a thread on nvnews, I'll see if someone else is experiencing this and if it
is driver related.

Though I'll try running with some safe kernel parameters, since you gave me an idea
about kernel (maybe limiting to only one core, nohz...).

It's possible your kernel is incorrectly configured. I recall strange
framerate/loading issues with UT and UT2K4 in the days before we could set
1000Hz tick cycles and configure the kernel scheduling for pre-emptive
desktop. So check that. It could be a graphics driver problem also, or
you're running UT2K4 from a very slow medium. Are you running it from a
native Linux filesystem like ext2/3/4 or are you trying to run it from NTFS
(you mentioned you also play fine on Windows). If on NTFS that would
explain experiencing what is essentially load lag also.
