UT2004 on AMD64... no go

hi all

ok trying to run ut2004 on my brand spanking new amd64 machine.
its a packing a nvidia 6600gt pcie with an athlon64 4000+
gig of ram, onboard sound

anyway im running kernel 2.6.12 (from deb packages) and
the nvidia 1.0-7676 driver.


ut2004 installs nicely, figures ive got amd64 and installs
i click the icon in enlightenment. i get a unreal splash,
screen goes black..... nothing.

ok check ~/.ut2004/System/UT2004.log.... blank

reboot, run ut2004-bin-linux-amd64 > output.log.... same again, file
blank.

drop in the 3355 patch. same thing.

reinstall the whole system to 32bit, same drivers and kernel
exactly the same problems.

gltron and tuxracer both run extremely well.

as i mentioned the log files are empty. sound works and accelerated
3d on other silly amusing games.

please help! id prefer to stick with amd64 if possible, but trying 32
bit was worth a shot. i think its a problems with the nvidia driver
and the card vs ut2004.
