I agree about changing distros being a last resort.  I went back to Debian 
because I have used it before and I don't have an extra machine on which to 
try a new distro atm.  I did get the game to install on Debian.  I am not yet 
sure how it will run, I need to install the Community Bonus Packs, the ECE, 
then the latest patch.
