You might want to try Ubuntu.  Basically Debian with Gnome only, and
geared towards desktop usage.  The modules are in
linux-restricted-modules for your kernel and you can find instructions
here:
http://www.ubuntulinux.org/wiki/BinaryDriverHowto

However, in Debian, you usually just have to install
nvidia-kernel-source, then follow the instructions in
/usr/share/doc/nvidia-kernel-source.  A little less easy, but fairly
straightforward.
