If you can check the archives, look for a subject:
  Weird graphics Issues with Radeon 9000
To summarize:
One person suggested using low texture details (I did this for other
reasons, I haven't seen that particular bug since). 
This is an ATI driver bug.
Possibly use the 'flush' command in the console for a temp fix.
