linux demo download

Downloaded linux demo the other day ,installed as root ,when installed
all my sound is gone and it wont start up . It sits in terminal with
cursor flashing until I crtl+c to stop it .Then I get a video error .
When I try to use Music Player ,I get an alarm "dev/dsp in use ?" .I
checked for this file and it doesn't exist in my system . If I buy the
full version am I going to have the same trouble ? Thanks .  Craig
