This might not be the best way, but here's what I improved my connection
to my favorite server. I started with a traceroute from me to the
server. It came back with 19 hops. I then did a traceroute to the 18th
hop, then the 17th, and so on. I discovered that when I went directly
to the 15th hop it came back in only 9 hops and a one minute ping test
had no packet loss. I started emailing comcast. It took about two
weeks and 4 or 5 emails but when they finally adjusted the routing my
ping went from 65 to 28 with no more packet loss.
