[ut2004] Lan problem

It dies suddenly! the second i click on the Lan Button, the mouse
freezes and the only thing that i can do is switch to another console
using ctrl + F1, F2, ... or reset the X server by ctrl + alt +
backspace. I am in a lan with other linux clients that work fina, i am
using the 2.6 kernel, does that matter? is there anything special i have
to care of?
