This looks to be the problem. the GLX vendor shouldn't be SGI, it should
be nvidia. it sounds to me like there's a rogue libglx around somewhere.
if your locate database is up to date, run 'locate libglx' and make sure
that the only two in /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/extensions/ are 
/usr/X11R6/lib/modules/extensions/libglx.so
/usr/X11R6/lib/modules/extensions/libglx.so.1.0.4363

if there's a libglx.a file someplace, that might well cause problems.


usually, just reinstalling the GLX part of the nvidia drivers will do
the trick in sorting this kind of issue.
