this sounds like it's the "no hostname in /etc/hosts bug" to me.
make sure /etc/hosts has your system's hostname in the line with

http://icculus.org/cgi-bin/ezmlm/ezmlm-cgi?25:mss:840:200210:hclchnknebiihamlknl

should have more details on a potential fix.
