Sorry, for bothering again.

Tried different RAM -> same problem.
Tried a differnet Hardware (Dell Inspiron 8200[1]), everything is fine
:(.
Are there any know issues running UT2003 on this hardware (sorry
for long lines):

In my setup hda/b is the first promise, hdc/d is the second
via and hde/f is the second promise (first via disabled by bios).
My fstab:

/dev/hdb6 none swap sw 0 0
proc /proc proc defaults 0 0
#/dev/fd0 /floppy auto defaults,user,noauto 0 0
/dev/cdrom /cdrom iso9660 defaults,ro,user,exec,noauto 0 0
/dev/hde1 /boot ext2 rw 0 2
/dev/hdb5 /opt reiserfs defaults 0 0
#/dev/dvd /dvd auto defaults,ro,user,exec,noauto 0 0

Tried /opt und /multimedia. All other removeable devices commented,
since there is a bug in the install script to the effect of trying
to mount every singel removable device.
Since my _first_ problem is the decompress error I supposed the
problems might be based on the via southbridge bug, but fankly
speaking, I am not so familiar with this bug (SB live installed,
too).
I would greatly appreciate any hint in this matter (excluding this
via-SB stuff would be so). TIA
[1] One of my friends, sorry, took some time to get there. However,
I installed&configured it, so the config should be quite close
to mine.
