Unfortunately, the gold edition's files are all in the wrong places for
the installer to cope with as it stands.
I ended up manually extracting the ssamtse datafiles when I got the gold
edition (i borrowed someone else's tfe cd) under windows and copied them
across. wasn't the greatest solution, but it worked.

Someone would need to rip apart the installed and modify it to support
the gold edition. (which usually isn't too difficult, all that really
matters is the setup.xml iirc, but it's not something i've done myself.)

there's nothing specific to the Gold edition that won't work by itself
tho, afaik, but it's been 3 months since i last looked, and i'm not near
my gold edition cds right now.
