Hrm. well, there's definently no solution to the lack of support between win32 and linux for networking serious sam, but there's definently an update for the timeout. loki_update usually handles these for me (i'm not sure if it comes with serious-sam personally, i have it from other games, ever since i installed tribes2.) if they don't have it, tell them to install ftp://david.hedbor.org/loki/update/loki_update/loki_update-full-1.0.13-x86.run and then run loki_update, as that should provide an interface for them to upgrade various loki_installer based games. I just installed that here on a spare machine, and it definitely knows how to check for ssamtfe at least. Unfortunately, the gold edition's files are all in the wrong places for the installer to cope with as it stands. I ended up manually extracting the ssamtse datafiles when I got the gold edition (i borrowed someone else's tfe cd) under windows and copied them across. wasn't the greatest solution, but it worked. Someone would need to rip apart the installed and modify it to support the gold edition. (which usually isn't too difficult, all that really matters is the setup.xml iirc, but it's not something i've done myself.) there's nothing specific to the Gold edition that won't work by itself tho, afaik, but it's been 3 months since i last looked, and i'm not near my gold edition cds right now. ashridah > > John "Louva-Deus" Turner > > > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Andrew Pilley" > To: > Sent: Friday, November 07, 2003 12:10 AM > Subject: Re: [ssam] Linux Betas > > > > On Fri, 2003-11-07 at 16:34, John "Louva-Deus" Turner wrote: > > > I had thought so too but I've been asked by like 3 different people and > I > > > don't run linux so I couldn't test it myself. > > > > Hrm. well, there's definently no solution to the lack of support between > > win32 and linux for networking serious sam, but there's definently an > > update for the timeout. > > > > loki_update usually handles these for me (i'm not sure if it comes with > > serious-sam personally, i have it from other games, ever since i > > installed tribes2.) > > if they don't have it, tell them to install > > > ftp://david.hedbor.org/loki/update/loki_update/loki_update-full-1.0.13-x86.run > and then run loki_update, as that should provide an interface for them to > upgrade various loki_installer based games. > > > > I just installed that here on a spare machine, and it definitely knows > > how to check for ssamtfe at least.
