referencer and KDE integration

Hi guys,

  I have a small problem with referencer but did not find a solution with
google.  I have installed referencer in Debian unstable with KDE as a
Desktop Environment.  There was no problem in rescanning my thousand papers
library (quickly too :) ).  However when trying to open a pdf from within
referencer I get an error

Exception: No default action associated

No other problems with applications opening pdfs in KDE.  It seems that this
is a problem on communicating KDE file associations to gnome applications.
Any suggestions on how to solve this?
