I'm using gcc 4.1.2, it shouldn't make a difference.

I don't know what's causing this if those libraries are there (assuming
the compiler is finding them).  Perhaps a gentoo expert will be able to
shed more light, or perhaps you can find another ebuild which depends on
boost_regex and see if that works.

You might want to check if ./configure is finding the libboost_regex
correctly: in src/Makefile you should have a line "LIBS = -lboost_regex"
