I reported it for completeness. Even if it's a hardware issue, it might 
still be prudent to put a workaround (if one exists) in the i915 DRI driver.

I've never dived into the Mesa DRI code, but I'll keep looking into it.

By the way, I stated in the bug report - but not here yet - that this 
also shows up with the commercial Quake 3 engine.
