I think you don't get what packaging is. In the most cases [1] where a package is based on a CVS or SVN snapshot, and certainly with the quake3 package being prepared for Debian, you just check out the last SVN snapshot and copy the debian directory in the top level dir. $ fakeroot dpkg-buildpackage should compile the entire thing for you. Next to this, you will not pollute your GNU/Linux install since *your* compilation is packaged. [1] That is, if the package is created in a clean and decent fashion. -- greetz, marc I am no one's female! So far, here is what you need: - XVR-600 graphics card as a -minimum- (XVR-1000 or XVR-1200 recommended). (NB: q3 OpenGL extensions must be disabled on the XVR-600 because of display artifacts). I should really open a call with SUN about this.. - I think q3 runs -with- q3 OpenGL extensions enabled on the XVR-1000 but that's from memory.. - You need something above an US-IIi 650Mhz as a minimum for decent perf, really... US-IIIi or US-IIICu will be great. - I have not tested software-only mode on Solaris/Sparc. ioq3 is most liky a no-go on such platforms as Creator3d, Elite3D, Creator2d, Sbus, etc... I'm in the middle of moving between appartments so I cannot be of much help right now but I'll provide binaries in the not-so-distant future..
