JIT compiler on PPC G4

Was JIT ever working for mac G4 computers (just wondering if ID software
never implemented it). Icculus Quake seems to run just fine on the mac I
tested it on. My questions are:

- Is there just a speed difference without having a JIT?
- Are there plans to get JIT working for OS X G4 architecture?
