In any case, I don't know if in your case you found a solution, but in 
mine, the solution was to use the SDLGL renderer instead of the GLX 
renderer, problem is that it appears to be much slower (around 20+ fps) 
than the GLX renderer. I even blamed my Joystick as the culprit for 
this, but after unplugging it and just to be sure (not suficing 
unloading the modules) I rebooted my computer, to no avail. Just the 
SDLGL renderer seems to work with the mouse. Another thing I noticed is 
while GLX doesn't need to disable gl_ext_multitexture, it is imperative 
for SDLGL, otherwise the gameplay is sluggish (not choppy or low fps's 
just sluggish). I also noticed that for some strange reason the SDLGL 
renderer won't play nice with my keyboard. I've lost the tilde since I 
used it and thus I have to rely on esc-->options-->go to console to get 
the console... Go figure.
