[quake2] quake2 eye candy question

Hello All,

Just my 2cents (as the Maintainer of the Solaris8 part of the
icculus version of Quake2): I'm in favor of autoconf.. That would
allow merging the two separate makefiles (namely Makefile and
Makefile.Solaris). I'm also in favor of a separate renderer
(ref_eyecandyGLX.so) for the eye candy stuff.. that would maybe
make things easier for maintainers of the other ports (Solaris, IRIX,etc..),
I guess...

Also, does anyone know what's this unified X window event stuff that
went into 0.12? (I'm sure someone -does- know but I'd apreciate an
overview without having to look at the entire diff between 0.11 and 0.12 :)
). So far, I have verified that 0.12 still does work on Solaris8/sparc
but I haven't done much else. That part of the port is still at the 0.10
level so a lot of changes that were implemented lately still have not
been incoporated into the Solaris port.
