Actually most other games require just as much if not more (D3, Q4, FEAR,
Prey, etc ). Only games that really don’t are the battlefield franchise..
cause of how that games built

Its hard to justify buying an FPS game with 8 max players...
I told this to my clan and we nearly abandoned the idea.
Now with the dedicated server files out, we realized that we would have to
upload nearly the entire game in order to host the server. The admins don't
want to spend all day uploading a game. Look at all the other dedicated
bins, they require little or no content from the cd in order to launch.

Yeah,

for germany we have an 18+ rating, means nobody younger than 18 is allowed
to purhase that game. For more information in english visit:

This could be another reason for the low amount of players (from germany).
