Thanks for your suggestion, but I would really prefer not to use<br>
xscreensaver. This computer is at home and I didn't installed it, as I<br>
have no need to lock the session (the main reason I use it on insecure<br>
computers). Since "/usr/bin/xset dpms force off" works from an xterm,<br>
there must be some way to make it work from a hotkey with no<br>
additional software. I'll follow your advise if no solution comes<br>
up...<br>
